Who is Christine?

Hi, I’m Christine Stofko (rhymes with Costco!)—mom, educator, and candidate for the Nazareth Area School Board in Region III (Upper Nazareth West, Nazareth Borough, and Stockertown Borough). I live right here in the community with my husband, Martin, and our energetic four-year-old daughter, Sunny. We love being part of the Nazareth area, and I especially enjoy taking Sunny to local school plays and cheering on our talented students.

I’ve spent over 16 years working in adult and corporate education, and I’m currently working toward my Master’s degree in Education. I’m passionate about learning, the arts, and making sure every voice in our district—parents, students, educators, and staff—is heard when it comes to how we spend money and build safe, supportive schools.

I believe school boards should stay focused on what matters: our kids and our community—not political agendas. I’m running because I truly care about bringing positive, practical change to our schools.

When I’m not working or volunteering, I love to spend time with my family, sew, hike, go to the movies, and take long walks with my dog. I’m excited about the chance to represent Region III and work together for a stronger future for all our students.

Christine at a Glance

Where are you from?

I was born and raised in St. Mary’s County, Maryland, which is a beautiful tidewater community of the Chesapeake Bay, where I grew up around the Patuxent River Naval Air Station as a child of a Navy veteran and computer scientist. I went to Towson University to pursue my undergraduate degree, double-majoring in English and Electronic Media/Film. I eventually settled after college in the Washington DC Metro area, supporting the United States Navy, Marine Corps, and the Federal Intelligence community in education and training efforts, as well as in the higher education space. My husband and I moved to San Diego, California and spent about 5 years there before moving back to the east coast to be close to family and friends.

We chose Nazareth for the excellent school district, proximity to major cities, the small-town feel, the kind people, and the kiffles! As my husband is also proud graduate from East Stroudsburg University, we knew that the Lehigh Valley was the right place for us.

What do you do for work?

I currently manage the Digital Training & Enablement team at PPL Corporation in Allentown, PA, focusing on adult learning and upskilling for new and upgraded technology. Previously, in addition to being a training professional and managing training teams, I have also managed large engineering teams focused on client identity and endpoint services.

What do you do in your free time?

I am a sewist, and I love to sew for my daughter Sunny, her friends, and members of my family. I also consistently have a batch of child-sized surgical caps on my cutting board as donations to local Ambulatory Surgery hospital units, as well as wheelchair caddies, mastectomy recovery pillows, and port pillows. I love to submit my work to the Great Allentown Fair and even won Best of Show in my category in 2024!

In addition to sewing, I enjoy running, baking, and spending time with my family exploring the Lehigh Valley. I am also in the process of obtaining my Master of Education in Education Technology and Instructional Design from Western Governors University. Finally, I am also a huge movie buff and will chat with anyone about my list of favorite documentaries.

Why this seat, and why now?

It feels like it’s never a good time to thrust your life into the chaos of running for a public office, but after witnessing so many politicians just “showing up” without speaking up for their community, I felt that I needed to become involved not just for my own child, but for all children, educators, staff, and taxpayers in our community. For me, a seat on the NASD board is not a Crock-Pot…I don’t plan on being a “set it and forget it” representative. I will work tirelessly to be the voice of a community that for so long has felt unheard and at the mercy of those who may not have the full interests of the community at heart.

In the end, I’m just a regular mom, wife, and daughter who is doing her best to make her community the best place it can be for everyone. Will you join me?
